What is a Gastroscopy?

Gastroscopy will take place in one of the procedure room, you may be asked to remove your shoes and to lose any constricting clothes or remove glasses.  The doctor may give you sedation or an anesthetic throat spray for examination according to your preference. The sedation will not put you to sleep but will make you drowsy and relax. The anesthetic spray will only numb your throat.  If you have chosen the sedation, then a small needle will be inserted into your arm or hand and you will have an injection through this.   A mouthpiece will be placed between your teeth so that your mouth will be slightly open.
